Little Miami High School juniors Daniel Birdsall, Josh Davidson, Jake McCormick, Garrett Reese, Nick Stacey and Joe York have been selected for Buckeye Boys State this summer. They were in competition with students from other schools, and were interviewed by an American Legion panel before being selected.

Buckeye Boys State is a weeklong program designed to educate Ohio’s young women in the duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities of good citizenship. By getting involved in the process, delegates learn more about city, county, and state government. This year’s program is June 12-19 at the Bowling Green State University.

Only juniors can apply for the program. To qualify, students have to secure a teacher recommendation and then fill out an application. Principals and guidance counselors determine a pool of finalists, and those finalists go through the interview process.
