Agricola, Bienhoff, Peacock selected for Girls State

Posted on: March 28, 2017

Little Miami High School juniors Rachel Agricola, Riley Bienhoff, and Sara Peacock have been selected for Buckeye Girls State this summer.

Buckeye Girls State is a weeklong program designed to educate Ohio’s young women in the duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities of good citizenship. By getting involved in the process, BGS delegates learn more about city, county, and state government. This year’s program is June 11-17 at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio

Only juniors can apply for the program. To qualify, students have to secure a teacher recommendation and then fill out an application. Principals and guidance counselors determine a pool of finalists, and those finalists go through the interview process. The number of girls selected in each state is determined by the state American Legion Auxiliary’s available resources.

Agricola, Bienhoff and Peacock were in competition with students from Mason and Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy for four total spots and earned 3 of them.
