UPDATE

First off, we would like to thank our maintenance and facilities crews for their progress this week in clearing snow and ice across district properties.  As we continue to  monitor weather conditions, please check for school closing and delay updates.

We know families are thinking about bus stop conditions. We know that in some neighborhoods, snow and ice built up quickly.  We also understand that conditions vary throughout the district and that not every stop can be fully cleared. If possible, families and neighbors helping to clear areas around bus stops can make a big difference for safety.

When snow or ice is present, families can help support student safety by:

·        Encouraging students to wait in the safest and most visible spot available

·        Reminding them to stay well back from the roadway until the bus comes to a complete stop

·        Using extra care when stepping on or off the bus

Additional cold-weather safety tips:

To help students stay protected in extreme cold, we encourage families to take a few extra precautions:

  • Dress in layers: warm coats, hats, gloves or mittens, scarves, and thick socks

  • Cover exposed skin as much as possible to reduce frostbite risk

  • Arrive at bus stops just in time — avoid waiting outdoors longer than necessary

  • Stand back from the roadway and stay visible to drivers and bus operators

  • Watch footing near icy or snow-covered areas

Transportation Update

We want to inform you that due to staff illnesses and the ongoing driver shortage, some of our bus routes may experience delays in the coming days. These delays could occur as early as tomorrow. Both AM and PM routes could be affected. If this happens, we will call, email and text you.
