Celebrating our admin assistants!

Posted on: April 26, 2017

Wednesday, April 26 is Administrative Professionals Day, which highlights the important role of administrative professionals in all areas of our schools. In many ways, Little Miami’s administrative professionals are the face of the district, greeting parents and students, answering the phone, keeping track of student attendance and important school records, providing comfort to a little one having a bad day and dozens of other duties.

"There is no way to adequately thank our administrative professionals for all of the important work they do on behalf of Little Miami students, parents, teachers and administrators," Superintendent Greg Power said. "We are grateful for them every day, not just on April 26."

Who are the Salem Twp. Elementary administrative professionals? See below:

Amanda Ballman, EMIS secretary, Grades 3-4

How long have you been with Little Miami?  This is my third school year.

What’s the best thing about being an LM admin? Having the opportunity to work with so many wonderful students and staff throughout the whole building at Salem!

What’s one of the challenges of being an LM admin? At times, there are several tasks to juggle at the same time.  However, with the supportive and helpful team I work with, it makes it easier to successfully tackle those projects!

Something that people may not know about you:  I traveled to Germany after I graduated High School through an exchange program.  It was the opportunity of a lifetime!  I love traveling!

D’Etta Stern, secretary

How long have you been at Little Miami? 22 years

What is the best thing about being an LM admin? Making a difference in a little one’s life when things might not be so good for them at times.

What’s one of the challenges of being an LM admin? Trying to enforce rules and keep everyone safe during the school day to students/families that I know outside of school.

Tell something that people may not know about you: I graduated from the same building I currently work in and was voted Football Homecoming Queen my senior year. I also married my high school sweetheart 37 years ago.

Karen Roseberry, secretary preschool/kindergarten

How long have you been with Little Miami? 10 years (plus another 2 ½ years as a substitute) – I have worked in every building (including transportation) except the junior high.

What’s the best thing about being an LM admin? I enjoy seeing the students every day and watching their growth from the beginning of the school year to the end.

What’s one of the challenges of being an LM admin?  Every day is a new adventure in an elementary office so staying positive and remaining flexible with the unique circumstances that arise brings a successful day to everyone.

Something that people may not know about you:  I enjoy camping and traveling with my family.
