Attendance areas, start times released for '16-'17

Posted on: May 11, 2016

Continuing growth in enrollment at Little Miami has prompted the district to approve a plan to help ease the crowding of the district’s youngest students for the next school year.

For the 2016-2017 school year, all of Little Miami's preschool and kindergarten students will be relocated to the portion of Salem Township Elementary School that currently houses grades K-2. Harlan-Butlerville Primary and Hamilton-Maineville Primary Schools will become first and second grade only buildings.

Families of students who will be affected by this change will be receiving letters this week notifying them of the building they will be attending next year. Families may also view the new attendance zone map. Students living within the areas bordered in blue will attend Hamilton-Maineville. Students within the green border will attend Harlan-Butlerville.

The relocation of preschool and kindergarten will allow room for additional growth in first and second grades where the district has seen the largest enrollment growth over the last few years.

School hours for next year have also been adjusted to allow for an updated three-tier busing system. This adjustment will allow the district to transport increasing numbers of students efficiently without adding additional bus routes and incurring additional costs.
