Jr. High classes collect 2,000 canned goods

Posted on: February 9, 2017

Donating to a canned goods drive only happens around Thanksgiving, right? Although it may seem that way, the need for food donations for needy families is a year-round fact of life.

The Little Miami Jr. High School student council knows this and held a canned goods drive during the month of January, a month when donations typically slump at local food pantries. Seventh and eighth graders brought in more than 2,000 items for the Open Arms food pantry located in Maineville and helped families right in the local community.

The homerooms of Chris Thomsen (7th grade) and Megan Salzl (8th grade) brought in the most items and were treated to a donut party as a reward.
