Little Miami Intermediate School’s recent geography bee champion has learned that he will advance to state competition.

Andrew Vance, a sixth grader at Little Miami Intermediate School, won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee in February, his second time as champ.

Vance then took a written test to see if he would qualify to compete in the state Bee on April 1. Vance was one of the top scorers on the test and made it to state. He did not learn he had qualified until geography bee adviser Judy Todia announced it to a cafeteria full of Vance’s classmates.

Vance is a student in Bobbi Allen’s sixth grade class.
