Testing info for LMIS families

Posted on: January 27, 2017

Spring testing season will begin Feb. 9 and LMIS Principal Dan Distel recently sent home information to families regarding assessments and expectations. His letter follows:

LMIS Families,

As we approach the Spring Testing Season we want to be sure to communicate with our families regarding testing dates as well as what is to be expected. We will be testing students within two 15-day windows. Within those windows we must conclude original testing dates as well as any make-up tests for students who are absent.

Each test that we administer here at LMIS is completed in two parts. This means that the whole test is completed over the course of two test sessions. The length of each test varies based upon subject and grade level. We have created a schedule that we believe does not test students too close together but also does not stretch the testing out over an excessive length of time.

We do our best as a staff to emphasize the importance of taking the test administration seriously but also balancing it with the knowledge that we do not want to create any undue test anxiety. Please be sure to encourage your child to practice healthy sleep and eating habits during this time. We would ask that families take into account these dates when planning/scheduling any trips or appointments that may take your child out of school.

Your child WILL NOT be testing every day within the testing window but only on two days for each test resulting in a total of 6 days of testing. The amount of time that a typical student would be testing is listed below in the table for each test.

You child's teacher will be sending out specific dates and times for testing, please contact the school as soon as possible if you have conflicts.
