A group of students at Little Miami Intermediate School is using their classroom learning to have a real-world impact on two organizations in the community, and they are seeking your help.

Sixth grade students in Leana Staton's gifted class have created their own service learning project to help Myles Ahead Animal Sanctuary and the Ronald McDonald House. After researching local charities and communicating with the organizations themselves, students asked how they could best help and built their own website to help solicit donations for the groups.

"These projects are student-led, which means I am there to guide and facilitate. They are the ones researching organizations, contacting the non-profits and selecting those with whom to work," Staton said. "They are planning and promoting the collection drives, and figuring out the logistics to deliver the supplies they collect."

The students are currently collecting donations until March 27, and any items may be dropped off at LMIS. For more information, contact Staton at [email protected].
