Lending a hand to those in need

Posted on: February 16, 2016
Teaching students reading and math in a classroom can come with many challenges. But teaching students to be better citizens outside of the classroom may be even harder still.
Students at Little Miami Intermediate School have had several opportunities recently to do service in the spirit of lending a hand to those in need in the community through some school-wide initiatives.

Last month, student government, under the direction of advisers Bobbi Allen and Erin Dipzinski, hosted a food drive with donations going to the Morrow Food Pantry, at a time when supplies are thinning out following the holidays.

In addition to helping collect food donations, several members of fifth and sixth grade student government recently volunteered their time to help out with the Panther Backpack program, packing food bags for young men and women in need.
