Students enjoy Daylight Prom

Posted on: April 30, 2016

Daylight Prom is very special day for some very special Little Miami students.

All morning before the big dance, classrooms at Little Miami became styling studios for special needs teens. Young men put on ties and young ladies put on sparkling gowns. Hair and make-up is done by volunteer stylists, and the atmosphere is one of excited anticipation.

The now-snazzy young people are then paired up with their dates for the day, other Little Miami High Schoolers who eagerly volunteer for the honor to attend, and everyone is ready for the annual shindig.

This year, the teens took bus to the Oasis Golf Club and Conference Center in Loveland where a large banquet room – featuring a dance floor, a DJ, Disney-themed prom decorations and snacks – awaited them.

More than 100 teens from other area high schools, including Edgewood, Loveland, Mason, Carlisle, Waynesville, Lebanon, Franklin, Kings, and Springboro and their parents, siblings or special education classroom aides packed the party and danced the day away.

LMHS Student Government helped fund this year's Daylight Prom with a Donors Choose page and thanks to nine donors, the group's $5,290 goal was met in just 14 days.

Thank you to LM parent Casey Shirey and Platnum Photography for the photos.
