gold award certificate

Team USA isn’t the only team earning Gold this summer! Our talented LM students in the Digital Media Arts class have been busy collecting awards & commendations for their great work during the 20-21 school year.

Freshman 101 Website

Digital Media Arts II students & rising Seniors, Payton Ware, Zoie Barbeau, and Jenna Miller won a “Gold” award in the Dot Comm Educational Website category for their Freshman 101 website.

This website was designed to fill the gaps that were created by not being able to host the usual Freshman 101 event due to COVID-19 restrictions. This site was created to try and introduce upcoming freshmen to various important aspects of high school life. Featured on the website are a welcome message from LMHS Principal Dr. Trevathan, a virtual reality tour of the building, and an animated character offering advice for how to be successful in high school.

Zoie Barbeau described her excitement upon learning of their big win, "I loved being able to work on this website project and it’s amazing to win an award for it! Every step that we worked on was so fun from taking each individual picture to making it a real virtual tour. I learned so much while creating this project and it’s so cool to see it being honored with an award!"

Digital Media Arts teacher, Nick DeSanctis is a talented instructor, who encourages his students to get involved in helpful projects around the district. He notes, "The students that have had me for more than a semester can probably tell you that real world projects are my favorite projects. This group worked hard to piece together all of the different things that made this website an asset to our counseling department. I was really excited when we sent it out over the winter and really excited to see us be awarded for all of the creativity."

#1PantherNation Video

As a creative way to hype up the community about the exciting new strides being made in Little Miami Athletics, Mr. DeSanctis teamed up with the Athletic Department to create a #1PantherNation Video, featuring highlights from LM athletic events & community scenery. This video, with Panther Pride on full display, earned a “Gold” recognition at this year’s Viddy Awards in the Education Category for short form, non-broadcast videos. The Viddy Awards, formally known as the Videographer Awards, is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals and receives thousands of entries each year! What an honor to bring back to Little Miami! Congratulations to the Athletic Department & Mr. DeSanctis to this impressive video!

We are so proud of the great work of our creative students & teachers! It is so impressive to see students use the knowledge they learn in the classroom to help others in the Panther community.
