Learning about another Little Miami

Posted on: November 10, 2016

Sure, there is Little Miami the school district. But the reason it has that name has to do with a special body of water nearby.

Local author and naturalist Bill Schroeder recently paid a visit to Harlan-Butlerville Primary School to talk with students about the Little Miami River, a national wild and scenic river, and all of the creatures that live in and around it.

Schroeder recently published a children's book called "Smallmouth Sonny of Bass Island Bar," a book that follows a young smallmouth bass through adventures up the Little Miami River. Along the way he meets many creatures, including Crayfish Ray and Omar the Gar.

After Schroeder's visit, each student in the school received an autographed copy of his book.
