Zachary Blow - Eagle Scout Project

Posted on: September 7, 2016

Project: Improvements to the school garden at Little Miami Intermediate School, including gravel walkway, edging, tool shed improvements and more

How long have you been in Scouts?
I have been in scouts for 5 years and cub scouts, I am in troop 838 and my scout leader is Steve Blow.

Why have you stayed in scouting all the way through high school? What do you enjoy about scouts?
I have had/ made good friends in my troop and in other troops and the fact that I have had so much fun has just kept me in scouts for this long. Because of scouts I have had many fun opportunities such as zip lining  and various other fun things as being on ATV's and a lot of camp outs.

Why did you choose this project for your Eagle?
I have always been interested in gardening/working outside. And when I got the news about the garden needing help I knew it was exactly what I wanted to do.

What was the process you went through to build the project?
Once I accepted the project I started meeting with Mrs. Gasper in August after that it has been a series of planning and preparation starting with funding from the PTO  then funds from friends and family I have had people mostly from my scout troop help me, along with family members, helping a lot.

How long did it take to complete? Are you happy with the results?
I started planning in August and started construction in February and am still working on construction. And I am extremely happy with the results.
