Hamilton Township police have given Little Miami the "all-clear" for Little Miami Intermediate School. Chief Jon Wheeler from Hamilton Twp. said the investigation into the burglary across the street from the Intermediate building is ongoing and police have cleared the scene. Evening activities at the school will go on as scheduled.

Here is the text of the news release from the Hamilton Twp. Police Department:

On December 10th, 2015 at approximately 6:30 a.m., Officers from the Hamilton Township Police Department were dispatched to the 7000 block of Zoar Road on the report of a burglary at a residence resulting with shots being fired by the home owner.

A female from the residence reported that a thin, young male wearing jeans and a black hoodie sweatshirt entered the home and stole several items. The female reported that she grabbed a firearm from inside the residence and fired shots at the subject as he was fleeing on foot.

Responding Hamilton Township and Mason units set up a perimeter and initiated a canine track at the scene but were unable to locate a suspect.

No one from inside the residence was hurt. Police have cleared the scene and are actively investigating the reported incident.

Little Miami Intermediate School was closed for the day due to the close proximity of the residence to the school.
