Little Miami High School is proud to announce that a high-achieving senior has again won recognition for her academic achievement.

Senior Lien Nguyen has been selected to receive the Honda-Ohio State University Math Medal Award for the class of 2017 and was recently named a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist.

The Math Medal is given to students nominated as their schools’ best math student based upon mathematic academic performance through the end of junior year. Southwest Ohio seniors have received this award each year since 2008 from the Honda-OSU Partnership, located at The Ohio State University in the College of Engineering.

Lien will be honored for this achievement during a breakfast ceremony along with the other winners of this award on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 8-10:30 a.m. at GE Aviation in Cincinnati. This award includes a $100 gift card along with the opportunity to apply for a $3,000 scholarship at the Ohio State University College of Engineering.

In addition to this award, Nguyen was recently notified that she was one of 16,000 National Merit semifinalists, based on her performance on the PSAT/NMSQT taken during her junior year. If chosen as a finalist, Nguyen may compete for 7,500 merit scholarships worth about $33 million.

Earlier this year, Nguyen received a perfect 36 on her ACT.
