Little Miami High School rising senior Lien Nguyen recently achieved a rare feat: She earned a perfect score of 36 on the ACT national college admissions exam.

While the actual number of students across the country earning a composite score of 36 varies from year to year, less than one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn a perfect score. That means that out of more 1.8 million test-takers, only about 1,000 earn a composite score of 36.

Nguyen said she felt good – and very lucky – to have received a 36 and hopes that this will help her achieve her dream of attending Stanford University to study chemical engineering. With a perfect ACT score and a hefty senior course load of four Advanced Placement classes, anatomy and two languages, it appears she is on track to do just that.

Nguyen, the daughter of Truong Nguyen, has been active on the LMHS Academic Team since freshman year, is co-founder and leader of the GSA, and has been involved in the fall play, art club, Women’s Empowerment Movement, National Honor Society and student government.
