This year, thanks to a Technology grant, we've taken a big step forward in incorporating technology into our classrooms. All staff, students and their families have Atomic Learning, an online resource for software training available to use both at school and at home throughout the school year. All you need is an Internet connection and a computer with the free QuickTime plug-in installed.
Atomic Learning's "just-in-time" approach to software training focuses on answering the common questions encountered when learning and using software. Need to know how to cut and paste in Word? Is your child making a PowerPoint presentation and looking for help? Need to type a formula in Microsoft Excel? Go to atomiclearning.com (or use the Atomic Learning link above) and type in your question. An answer will be provided in the form of a narrated movie that shows you step-by-step how to accomplish the task.
Atomic Learning features more than 10,000 tutorial movies on over 45 of the most common software applications. In addition, an average of 300 movies are added every month.
Your child will be provided with the username and password to access this site at school or you can email Pam Pritchard at ppritchard @ littlemiamischools dot com.
