LM IS "MAKING YOUR TAX DOLLARS COUNT"

State Auditor Mary Taylor presented Little Miami Local School District with the "Making Your Tax Dollars Count" award for the fiscal year 2007 audit. Fewer than five percent of all Ohio government agencies receive this award.

"I commend Little Miami Local Schools' commitment to careful spending. Congratulations for your hard work and for being a trustworthy guardian of taxpayer dollars," said Ms. Taylor. "The community should be proud of the district's commitment to making sure that each tax dollar is spent appropriately."

Certain criteria must be met to receive the "Making Your Tax Dollars Count" award. Standards include:

  • The entity must complete and submit a Comprehensive Annual Financial Review (CAFR).

  • There must be no findings or issues present in their most recent audit report.

  • There must be no other financial concerns involving the entity.

"This award reinforces that Little Miami strives to provide excellence with value," said Treasurer Shaun Bevan, who accepted the award. "The district is ranked in the top 25 percent of all schools academically, our spending is below the state average, and the State Auditor recognizes our hard work to vigilantly protect the community's investment in its schools."

The Ohio Auditor of State's Office works to ensure that all public funds are spent legally and appropriately and works aggressively to root out fraud, waste and abuse in public spending.
