LMIS Musical
Fifth and sixth grade students from Little Miami Intermediate School recently took the stage to perform "Is There a Doctor in the House?" by Tim Kelly.
This musical spoofs fake doctors who try to cure the mayor's daughter, Lucy Canary (played by Elizabeth). Lucy's father, Mayor Caesar Canary (played by Will), insists she marry old Otis Lackginger (played by Liam) for his money. Because she is in love with likeable cowboy Lester Goodbe (played by Mitch), Lucy claims to have lost her voice forever in order to stall the arranged marriage. Although none of the quack doctors hired by the mayor can restore her health, their methods are hilarious.
Highlights of the show included musical performances of "Is There a Doctor in the House?" "Love is the Best Dang Doctor," and "Medicine Show Today."
Rehearsals for the musical began in January. The show was directed by teachers Bobbi Allen and Marci Goodrich, and teacher John Demic provided musical accompaniment.
