State Transportation Requirements

According to the state pupil transportation office, "Pupil transportation service must be provided in Ohio for students in grades K-8 who live more than two miles from their school. Transporting high school students and those who live closer than two miles are services offered at the discretion of the district and not required by state law. These services must also be provided to students who attend nonpublic and private schools."

Additionally, bus stop locations must be provided within a half mile of the child's residence, and the state prohibits districts from charging students for transportation services. For more information from the Ohio Department of Education, click here.
