Just like anything else in life, children have different strengths and weaknesses in reading skills. They learn to read at different paces than the other students around them. To accomodate the needs of each student I use guided reading to teach specific reading skills. We call these groups Book Clubs. These are felxible groups that change when the need of each child changes. Students are grouped based on similar needs. Each group meets once or twice a week, and is given an assignement at that time. Some of the reading can be done in class, but some will also need to be done at home. This reading can be included on the reading log. Please check with your child each week to see what he/she is working on. Since each book club is reading a different book, each group has its own assignments. As a result you will not see the assignment in the assignment book or posted on this website. The assignments are written on a paper and put into a plastic bag with the book. They do count toward Fun Friday. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know!
