Reading logs are a way for me to encourage reading at home. Each student is required to read at least 60 minutes at home each week. This time can be divided up any way the student would prefer. The reading log goes home on Monday and should be turned in each Friday. So, a student can read 20 minutes for three nights. He/she could read 30 minutes for 2 nights, or break it up into different increments. The student may choose any reading material he/she wishes to read (magazines, comic books, chapter books, etc.)  Book Club books can be counted in the reading log!!

 Feel free to read together!!! After each session the student is required to write a brief summary of what was read. This should tell me the big events that occured during that session of reading. If the reading log is incomplete or is not turned in on Friday, the student will spend 15 minutes in study hall during "Fun Friday".
