Thursday, Jan. 31 is our 100th day of school! Can you beleive it? It will be a day filled with fun. On Tuesday, your child will be bringing home a gallon sized baggie. Please help them choose a 100 collection to bring to school by Thursday. We will compare them, measure them and enjoy them. In addition, we would like to have a 100 day snack to share. So, if you could send in 100 dry items (Cheerios, chocolate chips, cereal, etc.) we will mix them all together and have a feast!

While it is not a new school year, the new year brings us the opportunity to count our blessings and set our goals. Each year, I am so thankful to be doing something I love - teaching. My husband and I are both blessed to be able to work in an area that we truly enjoy. I hope that whatever you do, you are fortunate enough to love it, too!
As we look to the second half of our year, we will be concentrating on new things. Reading will be less about oral reading skills and more about comprehension. Writing expectations will continue to be using proper mechanics (capitals, punctuation, etc.) and more emphasis on structure (strong beginning and ending.) Math will be about multiplication, double digit addition and subtraction and word problems. In Social Studies, we will begin a 4 week study of Famous People which will end with a reseach project for each student.
I continue to set high expectations for your children, because I know they can reach them!

I want to take this time to thank everyone for the wonderful gifts, cards and kind words. I appreciate the effort of the whole class contributing to my wonderful collection of gift cards to the movies, Bravo!, Barnes and Noble and the ice cream store! What a thoughtful gesture from all of you. I look forward to the rest of the year with your children. Have a safe and happy holiday season!

I was out of town over Thanksgiving and did not leave the report cards for Mrs. Kniep to give out. Report cards will be sent home on Tuesday of this week. Sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.

It was wonderful to see so many family members join us for an afternoon of fun! You are welcome to visit anytime! Thank you, also, for the great books that were given to our classroom from the book fair. We will put them to good use!

Our Halloween party will be on Friday, Oct. 26 from 2-2:45. Please send your child's costume to school in a bag. They will change after lunch. We are going to try to have a "normal" morning. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Fundraiser pick-up will also be on Friday. If your child has a lot to bring home, please make arrangements to pick up the items at school.
