2.
How many days of absence is my child allowed per year?
The Warren County Attendance Policy states that after 8 days of
absence, an excuse from a doctor is required for additional days of
absence. These 8 days include the 5 days of vacation that may be taken
if pre approved by the principal.
3. If my child has missed 8 days will vacation days be approved for additional days of absence?
No, in this case, vacation days are usually not approved.
4.
What time should my child arrive at school?
Our A.M. buses are normally all unloaded by 8:40. Teachers would like
to be able to start instructing at 8:45. Our P.M. buses are normally
all unloaded by 12:50. Teachers would like to start instructing at
12:55.
When students enter the classrooms after 8:45 or 12:55, it is usually a
disruption. Classroom routines are very important for our teachers and
students. When students are in their classrooms and ready to listen by
8:45 or 12:55, their days are usually better. This also prepares
students for what will be expected in future grades.
5.
May I talk to my child's teacher when I drop off or pickup my child?
No, this is not a good time to have a conversation with a teacher. Your
child's teacher has responsibilities to all of her students at this
time and should not be kept from attending to the class. If you would
like to discuss something with a teacher, please send in a note or
leave a message for the teacher to call you. Teachers are usually
available to make calls between 8:20 and 8:30, between 11:50 and 12:30
or after school until about 4:00.
6.
May I park in front of the steps, in front of the playground or next to
the dumpster when I drop off or pickup my child?
No, please only park in the front lot. The side and back lots are for
buses, day care vans and staff vehicles. The gravel drive that leads
out of our back lot is a private drive and should only be used by
school vehicles.
7. May I send in party invitations for my child to pass out?
No, we ask that students not bring in non school related invitations.
8.
May I have a birthday gift or flowers sent to my child during school?
No, please do not have gifts, balloons or flowers delivered to the
school. This is a huge interruption to the day. Birthdays are
recognized for educational reasons, such as teaching the students when
their birthdays are, what the different months are, etc. No food items
may be sent in to celebrate a child's birthday. Small, nonfood treats
are fine to send in.
9.
Should I call in and send a note when my child is absent?
Yes, please call the school before 9:45 or 1:55 to report an absence.
You may leave a voice mail. We only have one call in line. If you call
and get voice mail, it usually means that the line is being used. A
note should also be sent in when the child returns to school. A
doctor's excuse will be necessary after 8 days of absence.
10.
What should I do if my child's transportation needs to be changed for a
non emergency reason?
We cannot accept phone calls or e-mails for a change in transportation.
You must send in a signed note or fax in a signed note to 513-683-3104
before 11:00 or 3:00. If you have an emergency, please call us at
513-683-0190. Our buses are boarded at 11:40 and 3:45. It is very
important that all car riders be picked up before this time. It will be
too late for us to put a student on the bus after these times if a
parent forgets to come or is going to be very late. If you know you are
scheduled to pickup your child but are not going to be able to get here
by 11:30 or 3:35, please call us so that we can put the child on the
bus if necessary.
11. Can I bring in a child who is not a Little Miami Kindergarten Annex student when I come to volunteer or help with a party?
No, we ask that only our students be here.
12.
May I e-mail an absence excuse for my child?
No, please call for this.
