Based on the 2006 Middle Grades Assessment results and most recent state data, Little Miami Junior High School has been selected to receive the designation of Making Middle Grades Work (MMGW) Pacesetter School at the 2007 HSTW Summer Staff Development Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. Little Miami Junior High is one of only six middle grades schools in the MMGW network that will receive this designation this year.
MMGW Pacesetter Schools will be recommended as models to other schools interested in seeing the MMGW design in action. Little Miami Junior High will receive an award certificate and a MMGW Pacesetter School banner to showcase our achievement. We will hold this recognition for three years, 2007-2010, and will be eligible to renew the designation based on results from the 2010 Middle Grades Assessment.
Little Miami Junior High was identified as MMGW Pacesetter Schools based on the following criteria (based on the 2006 Middle Grades Assessment and most recent state data available): had 85 percent or more of students meet one or more MMGW performance goals; had 50 percent or more of students experience an intensive emphasis on one or more MMGW rigorous curriculum indices; achieved "MMGW high-implementation" status; participated in both the 2003/2004 and the 2006 Middle Grades Assessments; assessed 50 or more 8th-grade students in 2006; and met Adequate Yearly Progress (2005-2006 school year).
