LMIS GOES GREEN

LMIS Student Council is helping to sponsor a paper recyling program for our school. Council members are collecting recycled paper from classroom bins and various school locations. Thus far 2.33 tons of paper have been recycled. Our goal is to collect 2 tons per month.  If you are interested in helping out, please recycle your household paper in the green recycling bin behind the school.  Paper only, please!

PARENT DROP OFF/PICK UP PROCEDURES

Parents who drive their children to and from school are reminded that you must enter at the Junior High end of the complex and exit through the gates adjacent to the Intermediate School athletic field. We ask that all traffic move through the designated lane with caution, as many children are entering/exiting the building at the same time. Additionally, while waiting for P.M. dismissal, please pull your car off to the side so as not to block the flow of traffic. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Little Miami Intermediate School
Students from our three elementary schools ñ Morrow, Hamilton-Maineville and Harlan-Butlerville ñ come together as classmates when they become fifth graders and attend the Intermediate School at 605 Welch Road. Principal Bob Reagan and the entire staff place a high priority on helping students make this important transition, as well as achieve academically and socially. While the approximately 615 fifth and sixth graders are housed in the same building as our junior high school students, the only shared academic facilities are the library and computer lab. Students at both grade levels benefit from instructional teams of two or three teachers, who get to know each student and take a personal interest in their accomplishments and the important transition from fourth grade to an intermediate school setting. Here, the students become exposed to a wider range of activities that complement the general educational program. Student participation is encouraged in band, chorus, student council, yearbook, and other extracurricular and athletic activities. Teachers encourage and recognize student achievements on a continuing basis, as does an active and involved PTO. Lynn Steinkirchner heads the PTO this year and many members are "veterans" of PTO involvement at the elementary schools. As with Morrow Elementary School, the Intermediate and Junior High School complex once housed Morrow High School. Built in 1956, the building capacity is 950 students. It currently serves approximately 1,008. Connie Gaylor and Angie Haas serve as fulltime secretaries for the Intermediate School. You may contact Mr. Reagan or the school office at 513-899-2334. You can also email Mr. Reagan at rreagan @ littlemiamischools dot com.
