How to help your son/daughter with reading!

Parents,

At the beginning of the school year I passed out  in a packet folder all the 1st grade sight words that your child would be exposed to this year. I also explained that by cutting these words out and practicing them every night that your child would be better prepared as a reader and as a speller due to repetition  and  frequency  of  seeing these words each day.  If you have not been practicing these sight words with your child please use the Holiday break to catch them up and help them to become a better reader in the New Year!  I understand that schedules are busy and that it sometimes can be straining to remember to do this every night but by doing this for 10 minutes a night you are really helping your child succeed not only in first grade but in life.  If you have any questions or would like more ways that you can better your child's reading experience please feel free to email, call, or even send in a note.

Thanks,
Mr.G
