The district is committed to maintaining all of its existing facilities for the next 20 years. For this reason, money from the bond issue has been set aside for the following renovations and capital improvements:
Asbestos abatement and heating and cooling
Conversion of the Junior High/Intermediate School complex into a fourth elementary school
Roofs
Pavement
Telecommunications upgrades
Transportation and Maintenance improvements
Buses
Doing a significant amount of renovation work in-house during the summer of 2006 allowed the district to stretch the renovation budget. Work included:
The Welch Road complex received a major facelift – from partial asbestos abatement, restroom renovations, and flooring and ceiling tile replacement to demolition of rundown outbuildings, installation of a walkway, and changing the use of athletic fields. Additional work included remodeling the junior high lobby, replacing outside doors to increase security, and installing a rubber floor application.
The main office at Morrow Elementary School was remodeled.
Masonry work was done in the gymnasium and asbestos floor tiles were replaced in the cafeteria at Maineville Elementary School.
At the kindergarten annex, classrooms were expanded down the hallway, office space was created for the onsite administrator, storage closets were built in the classrooms, and restrooms were plumbed for kindergarteners.
Air conditioning was installed at Butlerville Elementary School for students in the multiple-handicapped classroom. It is being used as a pilot for the district air conditioning project.
Driveways at all the schools, except the high school, were repaved, and the transportation lot was expanded for additional bus parking.
The bus garage roof was replaced, and roofs were repaired at the Junior High, Butlerville Elementary and Maineville Elementary schools.
Phase II of renovations includes: roof replacements, asbestos abatement, air conditioning installation at the elementary schools and Junior High/Intermediate School complex, a maintenance facility at the Welch Road site, and expansion of the transportation garage to include one additional service bay.
